Allocation List

Here at Wild Duck Creek, our small production levels have necessitated the use of an allocation system for our wines. In May/June we send out our annual letter to our allocation recipients, in the form of a Standing Order. This time of year is much better for our wines to be delivered to you due to the mild temperatures of a Southern Hemisphere winter. You may even get a knock on the door from David or Liam, personally delivering your wine to you.

After allocations have been filled, the remaining portion of our wines move to export markets in over 10 countries. Unfortunately due to very small production levels (sometimes less than 50 cases), some wines are fully subscribed, and a waiting list exists for an allocation.

As an added bonus to allocation holders, we periodically release some ‘specials’. These wines are usually experimental in nature and come in extremely small quantities. They are wines of high quality and very low price, only for allocation holders to buy. To get hold of these ‘specials’, as part of your allocation you will receive a password which will give you access to our ‘Specials’ section of this website.

The Wines we make are:

Springflat Shiraz – 100% Heathcote Shiraz, matured in 45% new French and American oak Hogsheads for up to 20 months (Approx 1800 Cases annually)

Alans Cabernets – A single vineyard delicate free-run wine, comprising mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, with varying amounts of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Matured for up to 24 months in 100% new French oak. Up to 400 cases produced annually.

‘Yellow Hammer Hill’. 100% Heathcote fruit matured in old oak for up to 20 months Up to 500 cases annually.

‘The Blend’ Cabernet Merlot, matured in 100% old oak for up to 20 months. Up to 300 cases annually.

‘Homestead’ Merlot Cabernet, matured in 10% new French oak for up to 20 months. Up to 300 cases annually.

Shiraz Reserve – 100% Heathcote Shiraz in 100% new French oak. Most years 100% French oak from varying forests, but we have been known to blend an ‘exceptional barrel’ of American oak if its integration and stature stand out above the rest. Up to 150 cases produced in exceptional years.

Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve – 100% Heathcote Cabernet Sauvignon in 100% new French oak. Up to 1200 bottles produced in exceptional.

Alans Cabernets Pressings – Bottled only in Magnums (1.5L), matured in 100% new French oak for up to 24 months. 150 magnums made in certain exceptional years.

Springflat Shiraz Pressings –A very long lasting wine of complexity and structure, with up to 300 bottles produced only in exceptional years.

Duck Muck – Masses of flavour, a huge wine!!! Up to 1200 bottles made in certain exceptional years.

Sparkling Duck NV – Sparkling Shiraz. A wine of extraordinary complexity, with material dating back to 1993. Dryer in style with little residual sugar left from primary fermentation. 3 years ‘Methode Champenoise’.
